Description
Yabby Lake Vineyard, Tuerong, Mornington Peninsula
Situated on a north-facing slope on the northern part of the peninsula, Yabby Lake Vineyard is perfectly placed to make the most of Mornington’s maritime climate. Established by the Kirby family in 1998, the vineyard has developed a reputation for producing high quality single vineyard wines. Indeed, in recent years, Yabby Lake has gathered an impressive collection of accolades under the guidance of General Manager and Chief Winemaker Tom Carson.
With a philosophy to craft wines that speak of the site and season in which they were grown, Yabby Lakes has committed itself to a ‘Single Block Release’ program. The focus is heavily on pinot noir and chardonnay, but the vineyard also has small plantings of pinot gris and syrah. While the Single Vineyard and Single Block label forms the backbone of labour at Yabby Lake, they also produce another label, Red Claw. Its emphasis is on producing wines that are bright, juicy and expressive when young.
The range of wines include:
- Pinot Noir
- Chardonnay
- Pinot Gris
- Syrah
- Rose Sparkling
