This Rare Hare wine tour is designed to book the entire transport for your own party of friends and enjoy great food and wine. Our driver and guide will be your own personal chauffer; relax in our comfortable mini bus.  No need for a designated driver we’ve got you covered! This service will secure all the necessary reservations and bookings so you can concentrate on looking forward to your day. Indulge in wines that the region is know for: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and cool climate Shiraz.

Have you heard of the Jackalope? The Rare Hare restaurant forms a part of the Multi-million dollar complex. Fantastic views of rolling hills and endless rows of grape vines set the scene for lunch. Dine on a selection of  share plates at communal tables. The seasonal dishes highlight the finest produce with a tempting balance of heat, acidity, depth of flavour and texture to each plate.

Large Groups

**We can drive groups 9-16 however please email us this can not be booked online. The Rare Hare restaurant large group availability is limited we will reach out to the restaurant prior to the tour confirmation.

Group reservations are for 2.5 hours and lunch time always 2:30pm for this booking .

Rare Hare Cellar door – Large groups can not be accommodated for wine tasting due to the size of the cellar door. A maximum group of 12 people only 

Please note: Group sizes 8-16 people must dine the $89pp lunch (Hare’s Share). Please see there website link here for further information. As part of the day we secure all reservations and bookings on your behalf. If you have secured your own booking please advise us.

 

How does the day unfold?

We pick up you and your party of guests from the discussed location. Please see full list of location in FAQ’s

A typical tour usually commences at 9:45am from Melbourne and surrounding suburbs and 10:30am from a Mornington Peninsula Pick up. We depart home at 5:00pm.

Once on the Peninsula, we drive to our first winery/vineyard  for a tasting, enjoy a range of wines (usually 5 to taste).

Depending on your group size, we will make a suggestion for the next winery to visit in the area. A popular stop is T’Gallant

Allowing plenty of travel time, we make our way to Rare Hare Restaurant, home of the Jackalope Hotel and our lunch destination. We stop for our third and final tasting.

The main affair! Indulge in the fine food presented at the Rare Hare Wine and Food Store.

Availability
Sunday Bookings

Please check box for any booking on a Sunday, you accept an additional charge from Rare Hare Restaurant ($8.50pp). This will add to the tour total cost. In addition, the restaurant will pass this cost to you on the day for any additional food and the cost of beverages.

Frequently Asked Questions

It will depend on your final numbers; it’s important to note that every cellar door imposes its own maximum group sizes. Small groups of 2-6 have their pick of wineries. A group of up to 11 guests has reduced wineries to choose from. Rare Hare cellar door will not except groups above 8 guests. Wineries that accept groups of 12-24 guests are limited, so organize your group early to increase your options.
If you would like a formal quote, please contact our office. This tour is “ready to go”. All pricing for the day is listed in the price table per person. Select your ideal date if it is available proceed to book on our online system.
Yes! We will collect you from your private address, office or convenient meeting point. All Melbourne Hotels included. This is a door to door private wine tour. If you would like to be returned to a different address please advise our booking office. We pick up from Melbourne and surrounding suburbs and from down the Peninsula. Extra fees may apply if you are outside our usual pickup zone.
Our Private Rare Hare Winery tour, is great for groups, small or big, that don’t want to share the day with strangers on a public tour. Be aware that Public Wine Tours sell by the seat and usually have a set itinerary. This vehicle is exclusively for you and your group.
Yes, of course! We can price a non-drinker to join the tour and include lunch for that guest and exclude all the tasting fees. Please email our sales team and we will provide a quote for a non drinking guest
No. Our booking price includes taxes and tasting fees, lunch, transfers, fuel, freeway tolls, the lot! We don’t charge fuel surcharges or any hidden costs. Any additional beverages at lunch are at your own expense. We suggest one person settle the bill and split with the group on a latter date.
Yes! The Rare Hare wine tour includes the Hare’s Share shared lunch at LL Vineyard.
No, unfortunately as a private tour specialist all our clients don’t want to share the day with anyone else.
Not a problem! Please let us know. Most restaurants can cater to special requirements. We kindly ask for these requirements as soon as possible so we can give the restaurants plenty of advanced notice.
Sure! All of our vehicles have the latest Bluetooth connections for easy connectivity. Our drivers are happy for someone to take control of the playlist.

Approaching The Day Of Your Tour

Our office will be available via call/text/email . If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Final balances and last minute adjustments will be required no later than 48 hours prior to tour commencement.

Things to know

Proceeding  with a booking
  • Type or select the number of guests in your private group and choose your ideal date. Please choose from tour options and add-ons. Proceed to check and provide your pick up details and select option for payment. 
  •  We will contact your chosen lunch venue availability to update you as soon as possible.
  • Our booking office will send you an itinerary and tax invoice. We will then email and secure all the cellar bookings.
  • Collect any special dietary requirements from the group, and provide us with the pick-up/drop-off address for the day.
  • We will contact you the week of the tour date with any final adjustments. On occasion, someone can’t make it on the day. That’s fine, we just need to know 48 hours prior.
  • The day of the tour, the driver will arrive 15 minutes early, giving the group time to settle on the bus ready to go.
