Once a hobby vineyard for owners Sue McKenzie and Eric Baker, Pier 10 has come a long way from its humble beginnings. The vineyard was first planted in 1996, while Sue and Eric were both still working in Melbourne. They wanted to create a different lifestyle for themselves, and perhaps a retirement business down the track. Today, Pier 10 is thriving. With a bustling winery, cellar door and restaurant, it is has become one of the premier wine destinations on the peninsula.
Pier 10 is now in the hands of Eric’s sons, Stuart and Scott. Stuart has owned and run the restaurant since 2007 while Scott, with his partner Cath, took over the vineyard and cellar door operations. Pier 10 produces approximately 2000 cases of wine annually and produces the cool climate wines that the peninsula is known for. Their premier wine is the Pinot Noir, though their best seller continues to be the Pinot Grigio.

Standard wine tasting – $10 per person
Group Wine Tasting
Pier 10’s cellar door offers wine tastings for $10 per person. Bookings are preferred, though not essential, even during the busier summer months. Most tastings are served at the cellar door bar, though they do have an outdoor deck, overlooking the vineyard for use during the summer season. Seated tastings can be catered for on request, however bookings are essential as space is limited.
Restaurant
Pier 10’s restaurant runs every Tuesday – Sunday, offering both lunch and dinner reservations. Run by Scott Baker, the dining experience at Pier 10 is relaxed and a la carte. Specialising in modern Australian cuisine, Pier 10’s seasonal menu caters for wide ranging tastes. Dining is offered across multiple separate indoor spaces, including the Barn and Homestead, and outdoors on the Deck, Terrace or lawns. Groups of 8 and under may book online and larger groups are advised to call the restaurant directly.
