Main Ridge Estate, Red Hill, Mornington Peninsula
Main Ridge Estate, in Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, originally was a small lemon orchard on a back block with no road access. It wasn’t until 1975, when Nat and Rosalie White purchased the property, that it began its life as the vineyard and winery it is today. Settled nicely on a gentle slope, Main Ridge has the distinction of being both the oldest and the highest altitude vineyard site on the Mornington Peninsula. Progressively planted since 1976, the site boasts 6000 mature Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Merlot vines.
Under Nat’s masterful guidance, Main Ridge has built a reputation for producing truly exquisite, award-winning Pinot Noir. Though he and his wife retired in 2015 and sold Main Ridge to Tim and Libby Sexton, Nat remains an influential part of the Main Ridge story. He continues to mentor James Sexton, the winemaker, and the two families have a strong relationship
