Domaine Chandon, Coldstream, Yarra Valley
Internationally renowned, Chandon is a brand that has received global recognition. Instantly synonymous with luxury sparkling wine, it has curated a reputation for excellence that is well deserved. With locations on four continents, it has come a long way from its beginnings in Argentina in 1959.
Australia’s Chandon story began in 1982, when John Wright, in charge of the Californian Chandon at the time, visited Victoria and was impressed with the Australian ‘can-do’ attitude. For Tony Jordon, the legendary Australian oenologist and chief executive of the Australian branch of Chandon, the Yarra Valley was the perfect location. The cool-climate region offered enough diversity of terroir that blending options were limitless. He, himself, chose the Coldstream property, the site of a former dairy farm and the first cuvées were released in 1989.
Today, Chandon is one of the most well-known wineries in the Yarra Valley and a great drawcard for the region.

Cellar Door
The Tasting Bar at Chandon is reopening on Saturday 5th March, 2022. Chandon offers 3 different tasting packages which range from 20 to 55 minutes in length. Groups of up to 12 people can be catered for and bookings are recommended, though walk in tastings may be possible depending on staff availability.
The Fountain Tasting. $18 for 5 tastings

The Exploration Tasting. $21 for 5 tastings
Explore the interplay of vineyard, variety, winemaker, and time across 5 unexpected sparklings.
The Chandon Sparkling Masterclass. $60 for 6 tastings.
Begins with a tour of the grounds and Riddling Hall before finishing in the Whitlands Tasting Room where you can enjoy a tasting of 6 exclusive and limited-edition wines.
The restaurant at Chandon opens at 11am for lunch and offers seasonal fare with a French twist. Dining is indoors throughout the year with a 270-degree view of the surrounds. During the summer months the terrace is also available for a leisurely lunch. Bookings are essential.
The Chef’s menu in the restaurant costs $70 per person for lunch and offers a 2-course meal of entrée and main. Desserts are available for additional cost. In the lounge, the menu is a la carte and, for those who want something different, Chandon also offers a picnic pack for two for $85 to enjoy in their garden.
