Established in 2009 on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula, Bass and Flinders Distillery embodies a spirit of adventure and a commitment to crafting high-quality, artisanal gins, brandies, and liqueurs that reflect both their local surroundings and heritage. As the first distillery on the Mornington Peninsula, their journey began with a passion for the classic brandies of France. Inspired by these traditions, they set out to create their premium aged spirit, Ochre brandy, showcasing the excellence of Australian brandy production. Situated in the renowned wine-growing region of the Mornington Peninsula, their distillery found its perfect home among the vineyards.

Unique, Locally Sourced Ingredients

True to their pioneering spirit, they blend traditional distillation techniques with innovative flavors, incorporating native Australian botanicals into their products. Collaborating closely with local growers, they source essential seasonal ingredients and forage native botanicals like saltbush, kelp, and samphire, capturing the essence of the Mornington Peninsula in every sip.

Their signature ‘Méthode Eau de Vie’ involves distilling wine into spirit, resulting in a smoother, fuller flavor profile. Central to their process is the creation of their grape-based eau de vie spirit, the foundation of their entire product range. Rather than sourcing neutral ethanol externally, they choose to distill their own premium grape-based spirit in-house, embodying their dedication to craftsmanship and quality.
